Organization:

The District HRPC is a Specialized Wing of the District Police, it monitors the investigation of dowry related cases such as dowry homicide, dowry suicide, dowry torture and non-dowry torture, atrocity on SCs/STs and deaths in Police custody. Moreover, the petitions relating to atrocity on women and members of SCs and STs are enquired into/mentioned by this office by getting the enquiry reports from the concerned P.Ss. Grievance of public relating to above issues are heard and follow-up action taken therein. This office receives necessary guide lines from different higher quarters for implementation of different Acts from time to time and for effective functioning of District HRPC.

Grievance/Petition Cell:

Public grievance & grievance petitions relating to torture on married women demanding dowry, atrocity on SC/ST and other related matters were received in the District HRPC and were disposed of by taking appropriate legal action on them.

There is also interaction with various citizens committees, peace committees, residents association, various other associations and non-Government organizations and other components of civil society.

Mahila & Sishu Desk:

Mahila&Sishu Desks are functioning in each police station of the District to provide the legal redressal to the women and child victims. Proper training has been provided tosensitise the officers/men attached to the Desks.

It also deals with:

Cases relating to dowry/non-dowry torture.
Cases relating to atrocity on SCs/STs

Allocation of Business:-

The Superintendent of Police, Puri is the head of the District office.

Working hours both for office and public:

Working hours both for offices and public is from 10AM to 5PM

Grievance Redress Mechanism :

A Grievance Register has been maintained to redress grievance of the members of the public before S.P. on their personal appearance.

Any of the public can appear in the grievance cell on any working day during the offices hours i.e. between 10 AM to 5PM.

A number of petitions are received through the office of the Governor of Odisha,CM of Odisha and other Ministers, NHRC,OHRC,State Mahila Commission etc. these petitions are sent to the concerned P.Ss/SDPOs/DSPs for prompt enquiry and report.

A number of press clipping are received from the Govt. and these are sent on the concerned P.Ss for prompt enquiry and report.

On receipt of enquiry reports from different quarters, the same are examined thoroughly and steps taken to redress the grievance. Some times reports are also sent to different higher quarters.

Sincere attempts are made to promptly redress genuine grievance of the members of the public.
