The Passport Entry Into India Act-1920.
1)What is a Passport and why it is required?
“Passport” is an official document, issued by competent authority on behalf of a sovereign nation state, certifying the holders identity and nationality, & authorizing the holder to travel abroad.All Indian citizens who depart or intend to depart from India are required to be in possession of a valid passport or travel document.

2) Where to apply for passport ?
Ans :Ans: The Indian Passport is issued by the Consular, Passport and Visa (CPV) division of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Govt of India through Regional Passport Offices (RPO) in India and through the Consulates/Embassies in other countries. You can apply for a passport either at an RPO (only certain cases), or a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or the District passport Cells (DPC) and, if outside India, at the nearest Indian Consulate.

3) Types of Passport.
Under the Passports Act 1967, the Government of India may issue different types of passports and travel documents such as Ordinary Passport, Diplomatic Passport, Official Passport, Emergency Certificate and Certificate of Identity for the purpose
